Top Five Atheist songs a christian might not realize have a strong atheist message

This might be a series of many top song lists(I like the music).

In our creationist museum excursion, John Feakes (our tour guide) started several of his arguments by basically saying “I know that (Insert name of non-believer here) said…..” then continued to talk as if one statement by a non-believer was a consensus for the entire field.

In honer of him I would like to make a top five list of atheistic themed songs one christian I once worked with thought were great and supported his belief by the mention of god/church in the lyrics…. but thought Marlyn Manson CD’s should be burnt b/c of there atheist messages.  (Yes you may have to re-read that sentence a few times and it still may not make sense and no song #4 isn’t on there by mistake he just didn’t realize it was a Manson song)

Just to give you a bit of background this gentlemen (Who I’ll call “J”) Was a Mormon who had very strong views on what was wrong with our culture but was a very nice guy. One of our biggest arguments came from his involvement in a burning of Marlyn Manson paraphernalia.  Being a foreman in my company I enjoy certain perks, one of witch is I get to control the radio. And if anyone wants to play there CD in my truck or on site it needs to go by me first. I never had a problem with the kind of music he would bring to listen to through out our work day… but you can imagine the conversations that took place b/c of these particular choices.  J is now a priest, and though he still uses me as a work reference, we don’t talk anymore. But at the time he last worked for me he claimed that all of these songs had a pro-Christ message, each time the songs first came up I would ask him if he had actually listened to the words, he always claimed he had.

I’m not sure the purpose this list serves. Maybe it’s just an example of people hearing what they want to hear. Maybe I’ll compose a list of pro-christ songs that I think are good just to balance this list. But I’ve never supported a POD burning party for there anti-moral message like J has so that doesn’t work…. I guess it’s just to illustrate that just b/c one educated member of a field thinks one way it doesn’t mean the rest of the field thinks the same way…. or that one has logical view just because they are educated…. anyway here is the list.

#1 Judith~ A perfect circle.

Sample lyrics:

“Fuck your god, your lord, your Christ

He did this, took what you had and

left you this way

still you pray never stray never

taste of the fruit

Never thought to question why

It’s not like you killed someone

it’s not like you drove a hateful spear into his side

Prey for the one who left you down and paralyzed

he did it all for you.”

#2 Dear God Sarah Mclachlan

Sample lyrics:

“I don’t believe in heaven and hell
no saints no sinners no devil as well
no pearly gate no thorny crown
you’re always letting us humans down
the wars you bring
the babes you drown
those lost at sea and never found
and it’s all the same the whole world round
the hurt I see helps to compound
That Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
is just somebody’s unholy hoax
And if you’re up there you’d perceive
That my heart’s here upon my sleeve
If there’s one thing I don’t believe in…
It’s you, dear God.”

#3 Imagine – John Lennon

Sample lyrics:

“Imagine there’s no Heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today”

#4 Beautiful people

“The beautiful people, the beautiful people
It’s all relative to the size of your steeple
You can’t see the forest for the trees
You can’t smell your own shit on your knees”

#5 One Tin Solder – Coven

“Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won’t be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after….
One tin soldier rides away.”

How to fake a UFO pic.

A UFO could be anything; the term just means an unidentified flying object. It doesn’t have to be super natural or even out of the ordinary, just unidentified. you might not have enough information on the object  like you’ve taken a picture and see a blob… well that blob could be anything (an insect that was close to the lens or spot on the lens itself) it doesn’t even have to be a flying object to be termed UFO.  A UFO could also be deemed as such because no one bothered to look into it. There’s a bright object in the sky it could be a firework, a glow stick, a plane… who cares?

For purposes here I’m going to use the term UFO to mean alien space craft.

The earliest case I could find of a UFO in my extensive 30 second search of Wikipedia was in 1088 in the book “Dream Pool Essays” Testimony from eye witnesses stated “a flying object with opening doors would shine a blinding light from its interior, this would cast shadows from trees for 10 miles in radius,, and was able to take off at tremendous speeds” Now I think this tells us one thing.

If you want to fake evidence of a UFO one is over thinking it if one goes so far as to fake photographic evidence. As we see from “dream pool essays” one merely has to report they talked to someone who once saw one and it might be remembered for over 1,000 years.

Here are some of the things people commonly mistake for UFO’s

Venus

Meteors

Clouds

Lenticular Cloud

(This type of cloud is called Lenticular cloud and common around mountains)

Weather balloons/Chinese Lanterns/Helium balloons/kites

Flares

(These have the added bonus of being ghosts or orbs to true believers)

Now I’m going to show you three famous UFO pictures, see if you can guess what they are.

Battle of Los Angeles
The Battle of Los Angeles or “the great Los Angeles air raid” happened three months after the raid on Pearl Harbor, Feb. 25th 1942.

Originally some thought the attack was from Japan. In hind sight it wasn’t much of a battle as the UFO didn’t actually attack anything.

Lubbock Lights

The Lubbock Lights were a triangular formation of lights as bright as stars but larder that flew over Lubbock, Texas several times in 1951. Three professors from Texas Tech. observed these lights when in the back yard of one of the professor’s homes.

After an article appeared in a local paper many other people reported seeing the strange lights.

Ghost Rockets

In May to December of 1946 over 2,000 Ghost Rockets were sighted in Sweden by hundreds of witnesses, many in broad daylight. The peak sightings occurred Aug. 9 and 11.

Let’s start making your UFO!!!

Rule #1

Keep it simple

keep it simple

Don’t go overboard in your designs. If your UFO looks man made, no one is going to buy it. And don’t show the aliens it’s just going to look cheesy.

Rule #2

Quality is not your friend

Quality is not your friend

Remember you were just out for a walk when you happened to notice this thing in the sky. You DO NOT have time to zoom or focus! Keep your pictures low resolution and a bit blurry.

Rule #3

Be consistent

Be consistent

Especially if you are photo shopping. Make sure your resolution, picture quality and coloring is the same for the cropped image as it is for the background image, also make sure your lighting is coming from the same direction.

Rule #4

Be creative

Be creative

Use anything you can find. Garbage lids, rubber balls, Frisbees, whatever works. Hold your UFO with a string and a stick, or just throw it up in the air.

Rule #5

Size doesn’t matter

size doesn't matter

You are going to be relying on forced perspective so don’t be afraid to use it to its fullest.

Make your UFO as big or as small as suits your purpose.

Now go and make your own UFO pic.
