SkeptiCamp Winnipeg: Experimental Archaeology and the SCA

Until now, several of the talks presented at SkeptiCamp Winnipeg 2013 have been missing from our SkeptiCamp archives. Audio of the talks presented by Scott Carnegie, Gem Newman, and Ashlyn Noble in 2013 will be made available here on our blog over the next few weeks.

Embedded below is Lauren Bailey’s talk from SkeptiCamp Winnipeg 2013. Lauren Bailey lives in Winnipeg with her two partners, four cats and a carnivorous plant named Mr. Buckingham. In her spare time, she likes to pretend the last 1200 years didn’t happen. She’s not above nepotism to get speaking gigs.

SkeptiCamp Winnipeg is a conference for the sharing of ideas. It is free and open to the public: anyone can attend and participate! Presentations and discussions focus on science and free inquiry, and the audience is encouraged to challenge presenters to defend their ideas. You can visit our SkeptiCamp page for information about upcoming events and links to past SkeptiCamp talks.

TEDxManitoba Favourites

All of the talks from TEDxManitoba have been uploaded and are now available for your viewing pleasure!

First, the obligatory self-promotion. As the Sirius Cybernetics Nutrimatic Drink Dispenser might put it: Share and enjoy!

Remember: The “Like” button is your friend! The full text (along with references and annotations) can be found here!

Now that that’s done with, here are a few of my favourite TEDxManitoba talks, in no particular order. The event itself was amazing, the speakers were awesome, and I got useful ideas out of every single talk, whether I agreed with the core premise or not. So watch them all!

But if you don’t have time to watch them all, at least watch these ones!
